Every product that is marketed, be it technological or an item of clothing, must have the CE mark printed on the label which indicates that it complies with certain conformity standards established by the European Union. Jackets, overalls, trousers, gloves and protections fall into the category of so-called PPE, i.e. personal protective equipment; these devices must pass specific tests in order to be marketed and certified with the CE mark. This mark on the product label will be accompanied by the European standard in force at that time regarding certifications, that is the EN 17092.
The year in which the European Union made specific certifications for motorcycle PPE mandatory is 2019, before then there was the EN 13595 standard as a certification standard, in force since 2002, which however it was valid only for clothing for professional use.
